Hmmmm...

Irene Ang has an amazing knack for picking gorgeous Pan-Asian women to be on her roster of artistes for Fly Entertainment. My 2 favourite HOTT chicks from her stable.

Philip K. Dick gets adapted once again. I'm not too sure how this will turn out but damn, the trailer and treatment sure looks good. Check out the trailer here.

The Love Choir

Today was a very rewarding day. We managed to track Yeeyong's lead vocals for the track. I was supposed, ahem, to go in and track my backing vocals but I haven't figured out anything to sing. A few of our friends dropped by to help us out to form The Love Choir, forming 4 groups to sing the 4 part vocal harmony we crafted on the demo. I was pretty wasted when the last group ended at 6pm. It was amazing fun. They came and added more to what we had asked for in the 1st place. The outro is shaping up very nicely now. However, it's back to the drawing board for Yeeyong, Weiyuan and me.

Lesson learned: Never track to a metronome. Always track to your drummer. Sigh...

Props and great love go out to Sean, Haykal, Linda, Kah Wye, Eng Teck, Jane, Noel, David, Robin, Marvin and Fuzz.

Innocent question of the day part 5...

Rajaratnam, one of the founding fathers of Singapore had passed away last week. I was catching up on my knowledge about the man who wrote the Singapore Pledge. He seems like an earnest guy and is an excellent public speaker.

The article in the Sunday Times mentioned that he first met our Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew back in 1954 when he was asked by the MM to support a protest by the Postal Union. The reason being that the postal workers were unhappy that the British colonial employees were getting a much fatter salary. The 2 men won the fight and formed the current ruling party, People's Action Party a few years later.

Fast forward to 2006. The angmohs are still being paid more and in fact, are courted by the government. Protest marchs are illegal, even peaceful ones. The government ain't colonial anymore. Hands up for those who think that 1 outta 3 is not bad.

He's back...

And that's the black costume for the 3rd movie. Just the normal costume... only painted black.

Spunk United...

Heartbreaker Fuzz gets interviewed by a web-zine, Spunk United. The layout reminds me of Vice Magazine with the Flash thing going on. Check it out here.

Went digging around...

Found highrise, the band which Tim (he who is usually drunk) plays in. Their MySpace page is here. I always thought they sounded like Coldplay but Fuzz keeps saying that they sound like Athlete. Well, I know as much about Athlete as much as I know Snow Patrol. The EP Stories is released under Wallwork Records. The bulk of the EP was recorded at the Music For Good office. Interesting...

Tim in the few occasions that he's sober...

Engineer/ Producer Nick who is obviously pretending to do some work here. I heart that Pre-sonus Firepod. Nice stuff.

Shameless self-promotion...

...cuz if nobody does it, who will eh?

My boyband, The Love Experiment updates our MySpace page with a new song taken from our set from The Esplanade show on Sunday 22 January. 'Pomegranate' was added.

Straits Times interactive is doing podcasts of the Bar None Monday Sessions on their microsite. We are featured in last week's podcast. Dancing Nancies delivered their usual high standards as per normal. Fuckers. If you ask me, our gigs seem to be accumulatively getting worse and worse. I reckon we could play 5 to 6 songs and call it a night, instead of trying to stretch to 7 or 8. We always do our worst for longer sets. Hopefully, we'll get to do some gigs in April or May though.

Oh well, after we finish up our contribution 'Orbit Round Me' for the Music For Good compilation, tenatively titled 'For Good!' (We can't fucken implement our usual sense of humour here lah. It's for a good cause.), we should be carrying on to record our full length. We are doing scratch tracks for 'Pomegrenate' right now. I'm trying to squeeze in some glitch-style beats in the background.

That's why we always say we are like The Observatory and Tiramisu combined though we are nowhere as good but hey, we are much cheaper to hire! After that, 'High School Girls' will get a total revamp from the demo we did. It's getting more and more exciting. Hurhur...

Back in da Singapura...

The final act of the Bangkok 100 Rock Fest, Placebo put up a pretty decent show! I'm a fan though I felt it was like a greatest hits set more than anything else. Then again, it's prolly the 5th album syndrome... you just roll out everything cause your entire repertoire is like a dim sum buffet.

I fucken lost my sis' digicam just before their set. Fucken upsetting. Cuz'

a) I lost all the pictures I took over the 5 days (I flew back on the 6th), all those pictures of the great peeps I met there. Besides, if they do become someone really famous or important, I can always blackmail them with these old photos.

b) I took a picture of the girl selling the Placebo tour T-shirt. She's so cute that she is the mother of my children. Her, along with 2 other girls I saw in the past 2 days.

c) I had pictures of all the bands I caught in the Rock Fest.

Conclusion:

a) No more fucken mosh pit for me.

b) I had my one-time body surfing experience. Was fun but age is catching up. Let's not try it again. I can't remember if anyone made a grab at my crotch though. Hmmmm...

Sharlene flew back 2 hours before us. She stepped outta the mosh pit (which was quite small though) during the Placebo set in 10 minutes. Sujin, Linda soon-to-be-ex-Warner and I touched down in da Singapura at 8+pm and hopped into a cab to catch our membersss Lunarin at their Bar None set. Represent.

Adventures in Bangkok part 3

When you visit any clubs in Bangkok, make sure

a) You wear fucekn pants/ jeans.
b) Bring your fucken photo ID or passport.

Being bounced from 3 clubs in 2 days is no fun.

Bangkok 100 Rock Festival:

Ian Brown was pretty decent if you ask me. His solo stuff was not that bad. Might get his Greatest Hits album though. A lotta dub influences. He did Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song'. Pretty bad. Of course, the greatest cheers were reserved for Stone Roses' classics 'Waterfall' and 'She Bangs The Drums'.

Franz Ferdinand was amazing! A riot and great fun to watch live. Too bad that I missed their Singapore show cause what I heard from Sujin who have seen them live 3 times that the Singapore leg was the best he's seen them.

Oasis was pretty shite. Boring stuff. The classic tunes were better. They had nice guitars though. That's about it.

Adventures in Bangkok part 2

Total damage today= 1 cargo pants (700 baht), 1 cargo bermudas (600baht) and 2 short-sleeve shirts (400 baht). No. of beers consumed = Sad to say, only 3 but it's not even 9pm here!!!

No. of HOTT Thai girls - more than 50, I reckon
No. of HOTT Japanese chicks - about 3
No. of HOTT angmoh chicks - 3
No. of HOTT chicks who actually bothered to talk to me - 0

I think I need to change my pick-up line: "Do you want to have my children?" It doesn't seem to work at all...

Watched a bit of TV today. Yesh, I'm a couch potato. Caught this EXTREMELY gorgeous looking TV actress Chompu (or that was what I was told. Can't find her pics online though). Apparently, she's Thai-American. I rikes... a lot. What I was told, a lotta these Eurasian chicks hang out at RCA, Royal Crown Avenue. And I'm heading there tomorrow to support Astreal and MUON! Woo hoo!!!

By the way, I was at a record store at Siam Square (it's like Orchard Road where loads of chicks hang out) and I saw The Observatory on retail!!! Printed and manufactured in Thailand! Respresent! I heart The Obs.

Okay, gotta go grab something to eat and maybe I'll make my way to Q Bar or Bed Supperclub (I can't remember the exact names. Apparently, the hottest clubs in town)

To be continued...

Adventures in Bangkok part 1

I'm in Bangkok! It's fooken 2:20am here while it's 4+am in Singapore. I'm fucken bushed... Gotta get some sleep soon.

What I'v managed to scan through the papers a week ago was Thaksin is facing strong critique from the public and folks have been asking him to step down. He fucken should!

You can't friggin' buy buy beer from 7-11 after mid-night. There are some restrictions on when you can buy beer as well! From 11am - 2pm and 5pm - 12am midnight. What the fuck! I heard he clamped down on the nightlife in Thailand but this is ridiculous! What's a man gotta when he can't even get some booze in the middle of the night!

This sucks! And there's no fridge in the hostel where I is staying. I can't bloody stock up my own stash to drink at my leisure. Man, this blows...

My Sunday...

Went to 'lau yu sheng' with Roy, Eric, Weng and some friends. Had buffet lunch at Baccarat. Pretty decent. You pay for 2 diners and you get one for free.
